More Precursor Mayhem

I'm sure most of you guys know by now but Arenanet sent out chests to all players who made it part way through the ancient karka event from the Lost Shores patch.

This means that there are a lot of folks who had a chance at a legendary weapon percursor. A lot of those folks got lucky.

I'm not sure if you followed the named exotic/percursor trends after the lost shores event when folks speculated precursors would plummet so sell now. Well this didn't exactly happen. Precursors took a hit in value but not by much.

In my opinion that hit had more to do with rumours of further tweaks to the precursor system.

So, for those looking for a medium term investment (a couple of weeks) buying up legendary precursors is pretty good money. I won't say long term because there may yet be changes to the system that means they do plummet in value - so it's best not to hold onto them for too long.

Perhaps others think the same way I do, I'm not seeing the same movement as last time. In any case, keep an eye out for any news about changes to precursors if you choose to get into that market!

Also - keep an eye out for wintersday news! I feel like teasers are late but I think it's because the first speculation started freakishly early! :)

  1. I wish I had enough money to even think of buying precursors as an investment..

  2. Didn't get a precursor out of mine, or any of my friends. But I did get myself a Charrzooka which is something i've wanted for ages and was just always too cheap to buy

  4. I think buying Precursors and Exotics is a good way to do a mid-term investment, but on the other hand glacial cores/lonestones are on a pretty nice price right now and might have a spike during christmas...

  5. Off topic, but I was thinking about investing in armored scales, lots of chater about bots farming them and the prices are dropping. If Anet does another mass bot ban then prices should go back up right? What would be a good entry point?

    1. Some people suggested that the drop in value on armored scales might as well be caused by people getting them from fotm. The jellyfish zone is one of the most liked ones as it is easy and people restart until they get it. The enemies there drop armored scales.

    1. Based on a True Story, Chinese Company presents:

      Bots II: Underwater Revolution

It´s the end of 2012 and the Anet Alliance is about to find out the comeback of the bots. In Frostgorge Sound a new bot version armed with a new technology, Teleport Hack, are now farming the Underwater Regions and gathering Armored scales to improve their camouflage Gear. Will the Anet Alliance stopt them in Time or will this new generation of bots conquer the Underwaters?..

  7. Not related to the precursor topic but on gem/gold subject.
I have now around 7 gold (not playing much) and right before halloween, I didn't anticipated the rise of Gem/gold ratio so I had to spend all of my gold to purchase a Halloween outfit.
    Now, it's even more expensive!
Before, I got a 700 gems outfit for 7-8 gold if I remember correctly. Now it will give me not even 400 gems for it.

My question: should I trade all of my gold now if the Xmas event will, like Halloween, raise the Gem cost? (and I'll finished the rest during the month tom at leastm pay myself a Xmas costume)

  8. Gem costs will for sure rise over xmas..
I am not sure if will be enough to buy now gems and then resell them for gold and make a profit.. that may take some more time.. besides you want to buy stuff with the gems... so yeah, buy now, because its gonna get much more expensive when the Wintersday kicks in, thats for sure.
