First Wintersday Information Drop (Sparse)

There I was, just posting to google+ and Facebook that I didn't have time to post due to lots of work. And then I see:

Wintersday: The Wondrous Workshop of Toymaker Tixx
December 14 to January 3
The nights may be long and dark, but Tyrians of all races keep joy alive during the ancient holiday of Wintersday. While each race celebrates Wintersday in their own unique way, children all over Tyria share a common love of one thing: toys.
This year the city of Lion’s Arch will host the asuran Toymaker Tixx as their special Wintersday guest of honor. Before Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch in his massive airship toy workshop, he’ll visit every major city in Tyria to deliver Wintersday toys and holiday cheer.

Truthfully we've little to work with here just yet but we've a time scale (a start date importantly) which means we can further predict potential bubbles and when they'll burst.

I'm also interested in the fact that this is, so far, focusing on toys (and other types of gifts). I've had a long look at most of the cooking possibilities but I'm now thinking about other crafting skills. Maybe we'll be able to construct wooden soldiers or dolls; miniature zeppelins and things of that nature.

Share your thoughts below!

PS Chocolate spiked again and it was exactly a day after (give or take an hour) the first spike. Anyone listed some for 1 silver predicting another wave of purchases tonight? If the trend repeats itself you'll be able to buy more chocolate back than you sold and still have made profit. It's a gamble but then, isn't all speculation?

  1. Lion's Arch again? Beginning to hate that place. If they put any one time events they'd better have coverage for my timezone this time around or I'm going to be truly pissed.

  2. Well...lion's arch is the "capital"...so it's kinda normal that events are focused here...especially since everyone can reach easilly lion's arch...it was just like this in gw1...they started to make those events run in other capitals just to let all the player who didn't have the other game to properly partecipate in it.

    1. I could be proven wrong but I do sense a bit of manipulation in the chocolate bar market so I sold quite a bit between 1s and 2s. Will look to resupply if it drops to maybe 70c or something

    2. Definite manipulation. I was on the TP looking at chocolate, and suddenly it just started disappearing. It reached it's high of about 2.31s in under a minute.

  6. What about mint? I have been trying to procure a bunch of it hoping they release a candy cane recipe or something along those lines.

My first try looked the same and i lost 10g :-P
My strategy is place buyorders a few days before and then buyoff SLOWLY! over days , people have to get used to the new prices :D

  13. Saw Saffron Thread spiking a bit, possibly as a result of this post lol. Might still be room to get in before the real bubble begins.

    1. The bottom-price of Saffron Thread is 9c anyway and it's a max-level-material as well. Imo with the diversity of 400-cooking mats already available, there won't be a higher tier anytime soon and new recepies will most likely make use of the already existing ones. So even if christmas is over I'll keep track of the 400-cooking-mats...

    2. I agree, I might have missed the boat on saffron's rise in price though. But if it dips at all, I'm gonna buy a bunch of it for the long haul. Seems like a clear choice for new recipes, both event and non-event related.
